How Do I Set Up a Wireless Netgear Connection to My Laptop

The best gain of using a wireless connection in your office or home is the ability to connect multiple network-based devices to the high-speed Internet connection through one single connection. Additionally, you can avoid the annoyance of Ethernet cables and make a cleaner work environment. Netgear router is one of the most widely used wireless routers available for both personal and professional use, and you can configure it easily on your laptop or desktop PC that has a wireless adapter.

Once you setup and configure Netgear router setting on the laptop, you will be able to connect your laptop and wireless device to the network. A Netgear wireless-N router can help you add flexibility to the local area network of your company. However, if you face any difficulties while configuring the router, you can seek quick help from the Netgear customer care. Take a look at the steps:
  1. Turn off your laptop while connecting to the wireless network. Unplug your modem and eliminate the Ethernet cable that is currently connected to the laptop.
  2. Attach the cable one end to the port on the modem and then insert the other end into the available port on the Netgear router.
  3.  Plug the second Ethernet cable one end into any of the available ports on the router back side and then connect the other end of the Ethernet cable into the port on the laptop.
  4. Connect the mini-end of the Netgear power adapter into the router and plug the adapter into the power plug. Wait for the LED lights to show on the router front side. Check the router status. The port number revealed on the router front side should be stably lit and matched with the added port you applied to connect the laptop.
  5. Start your laptop and open the web browser to configure the Netgear router’s settings, and then enter the ‘192.168.1.1’ in the address bar of your browser and press the ‘Enter’ key.
  6. Enter the ‘admin’ in the User Name box and then type the ‘password’ in the Password box. Click the ‘OK’ to go the setup page of your router.
  7. Click on the ‘Setup Wizard’ tab on the left side of the window. Click the ‘Yes’ button to allow your router to configure the network connection it identifies automatically.
  8.  Click on the ‘Apply’ button to save the settings of your Netgear router and connect to the Internet.

Now, you can connect your device to the high-speed connection and browse the Internet. But before beginning the installation process, firstly you need to know the IP address you get from the ISP.
